Are there going to be a new buch of Twitter marketers funnelling people to sites they choose?

I've been on the sidelines waiting to see if using Twitter would pay off. For me personally, I don't see how it would be benficial because I do not have an already established customer base. It seems like only the top internet find Twitter marketing useful, I could be wrong though.
