My country is under attack here because of the dubious schemes of some misguided country men.I could not watch the video because am in a cafe right now, when I got home I will watch it.
One thing I will like to say here is that the original song "I Go Chop Your Dollar" was originally done by one of our popular artist "Osuofia". It generated a lot of controversies and was later detained by the anti graft body "EFCC".Why did he sing that kind of song? He said it was just entertainment on how some foreigners are falling for the dubious schemes of some fellow in the country. Our government is not taking the fight against scam emails easy. We have recorded a lot of successes and sooner than later it will be greatly minimised if not totally eradicated. Please, you all should not see my country in that bad light. We have a lot of country men and women abroad who are contributing to the advancement of the global economy. In the technological arena, we have Philip Emeagwali and host of others in the US and also Dr(Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo Eweala, who was former vice president of the World Bank.I am not going to mention others for the sake of space. This practised is only done by some few citizens and their antics is affecting some of us who are just starting internet marketing business. This is not to say we don't have many established internet marketers here. I also know that scams is not peculiar to my country alone. There are also great scam artists in the US and other countries. We know them and we are keeping clear from their websites. Every one should do unto others what he/she wants others to do unto him. When we imbibe this principle,we will then have a world devoid of rancour and acrimony. Matthew Sherbourne, you are really working hard to make this forum a better place for all. Thanks. |

Thanks Teguono for sharing your insight into this problem. I agree that internet scams occur from all countries. I did not post this to only single out Nigeria as the only problem. It was posted because I have never seen anyone sing about it in a video like this.
As a daily recipient of scam emails I know how easy it can be to believe these claims. For that reason I'm trying to educate people to be careful of falling for schemes that sounds too good to be true.

Yes Matthew, you are right! Internet scams occur from all countries. I know you did not single out Nigeria but just trying to educate all of us.
This is really worrisome as there are countless number of such schemes online and for you taking your time to warn us is something that is commendable. As if by coincidence that artist who originally sang that song was rumoured to be dead. After some investigation,it was found out that he was not actually dead but the news was fabricated to bring him down. One of the issues that was brought up again was the "I Go Chop Your Dollar" song. He said again that the song was meant to spite those who are involved in scams. Thanks Matthew.Hope to hear from you on this again. |
