Default Myspace Developer Platform

The Myspace Developer Platform was just released by the popular social networking site to allow developers
to create their own applications and widgets to be dispalyed on the Myspace site.

The Myspace Developer Platform will grant developers the ability to develop and promote their own Myspace
applications which is in direct response to the success seen on the popular Facebook social networking site.

With the Myspace Developer Platform you can build your own widgets and applications that will be able to integrate
right in to the profiles of Myspace members. Members who install your application or widget can show them on their
profiles giving you a way to reach a mass audience with your application.

Right now on the Myspace Developer Platform (MDP) you can learn about the API’s, test applications and build your
own applications with their App builder. This will prove very exciting for those who get in first due to the popularity
of Myspace and the popularity of widgets on its rival Facebook.

Launching the full service live on the Myspace site in March, gives everybody an equal opportunity to test out their
own creations on the Myspace Developer Platform. By getting in early you can be posed to get first mover advantage
on a level playing field.

During this start-up phase the applications you create can only be used on the developer platform for testing. The
real excitement will begin in March when the applications will be come live on the Myspace site.

Through the MDA you can create your application profile. Once there you’ll be able to use the application canvas
to build your own apps module.

Apps modules currently come in two forms as the Profile module and the Homepage module.

For Homepage modules the applications are displayed directly on the left-hand column of a members’s
homepage.

With the Profile modules your app will display directly on a member’s profile. It can be installed in the left-hand
column or the right-hand column of a member’s profile.

Homepage module are not able to be viewed by the general public. These types of application modules are best
for presenting information that constantly changes and is member-specific data.

You've got a distinct advantage by getting in on the ground floor of creating your own Myspace applications and
Myspace Widgets.

There you’ll find the necessary documentation to get started, information from the Myspace development team,
online forums, sample code and the developer’s sandbox to test out your creations.

Default Myspace Widgets

It's about time Myspace allows developer widgets. They should have done this months ago before Facebook caught up with them in popularity. I got to say I've got mixed feelings about all the widgets on Facebook because of all of the requests to add them.

As much as i hate them I have to admit, I like the idea of developing my own and will check this out.
