Default How to build a targeted opt-in list

If you're not yet successful with your own online business then one of the important skills you may need to learn
is how to build a targeted opt-in list. Merely having a website and directing traffic to it is not enough to sustain
a long term online business strategy.

For instance, what happens if Google suddenly changes their search results and your site suddenly loses a big
portion of your traffic. You could suddenly find yourself with no way to generate income.

Your own website is not a guarantee that your online business will succeed. Not only that but how will you
communicate with your website visitors once they leave your site. Will you hope that they come back on their own?
It's a sad truth that once your website visitors leave your site, many won't be coming back.

Luckily, with the help of an opt-in capture form you can intice them to sign up to receive your emails and keep the
customer contact alive.

By creating a highly targeted opt in list you'll be using the most effective and important tool in Internet marketing.

Your opt in list will collect the email addresses of people who have agreed to receive the information you provide.
The term “opt in” means that you have their permission to send them emails and comply with the current anti-spam
laws.

You can send them what ever information you want, such as an online newsletter, affiliate promotions, pdf reports
or links to videos or resources that they may find helpful.

By creating an opt in list, you will be able to maintain solid and constant contact with your customers and prospects.
You'll also benefit from a boost in your sales because of the ability to contact them whenever you have an offer.

You probably already know the importance of building a highly targeted opt in list. If so then it's only logical that you
find out how to build an opt-in list of your own, here's a few ways to get started.

1. Focus on a particular niche market

In the online world it's important to be perceived as an expert. You want to know your stuff and provide informative
content to your list. For this reason it's extremely important to know your target market in detail.

It's counterproductive to jump all over the place with the content you provide to your list. Doing so will make many
people unsubscibe and create confusion. It's much too time consuming to build an opt in list with no particular market
in mind.

That's why focusing in on a particular topic of expertise with your marketing campaigns will guarantee better results.
This way you can focus on a particular group and send emails to people who would most likely be interested in actually
reading them.

2. Choose a target market that is active on the internet

The concept is basically simple, how can you promote your online business if your niche market is not available in the
Internet? Hence, it is extremely important to verify if your target market is available online.

The mere acquisition of a niche market is not a guarantee that you can already start building your opt in list. Since, the
concept of opt in list is specifically generated to aid in the growth of the Internet market of a particular entrepreneur, it
is important to have a niche market that is available through the Internet.

3. Select market that is profitable

It goes without saying if the market isn't full of people who are actively purchasing, capable of purchasing or want to
purchase then it will be a waste of time. Creating a highly targeted email list will be for nothing if the market is not
generating any income at all.

Take a look on Google to verify a markets income-generating potential. Do you see any sponsored ads on the right?
Finding paid ads is a good indication of a market that can be monetized.

Are their advertisers for the keywords that target your potential market choice? If there are advertisers paying and
focusing on the same target market that you have in mind then most likely you will be able to benefit from them as
well.

Use the research of multi-million dollar companies to get a piece of the action. Find out what they are spending money
advertising for. Then ask yourself if their is a tiny part of that market being under served. Focus on a highly profitable
segment of a larger market that is neglected by large companies.

4. Provide the solutions to the biggest problems your market faces.

If you've found a good profitable market to target then you need to become one of the people in the market. Go where
your prospects congregate. whether it's in online forums, groups, blogs etc. You need to become one of them to
determine the biggest problems that they currently face.

By providing the underlying solutions and answering the biggest problems in the target market you'll gain valuable trust.

Through reading the posts of people in your market you'll be able to identify their problems and provide a solution.
Then you will be in a perfect position to offer an incentive for people to opt-in by providing the solution they need.

An online newsletters directed at people with a big problem that you can solve is a great way to develop a loyal
following of people willing to follow your advice, trust your recommendations and purchase your products. As you can
see learning how to build a targeted opt-in list is definitely a valuable skill that is crucial to online success.
