Default How to Choose the Best Product to Promote

Your name's plastered all over your site promoting this product, so it better be one you can stand by. Here's a checklist for choosing the best product to promote. If you can say yes, you probably have a winner

1. You'd honestly recommend it to your friends... your family... your mom.

2. It's a high quality product.

3. It's catering to a hungry and growing market

4. The compensation plan is good... 40% is low these days, 50%-60% much better... and you won't hear me complain if it's higher than that

5. You know you'll get paid... and when you'll get paid... and how you'll get paid. PayDotCom and Clickbank are standards. There are other ones privately owned, thanks to affiliate scripts and the Butterfly Marketing script. Find out when they'll pay you. (And do you have to reach a certain amount before the check comes)

Does anyone else have any tips on how to choose the best product to promote?

Default tips to choose the best product

I've got a couple more tips to choose the best product:

6. It offers lots of tools to use, like banners, sales copy, an auto responder series.
When the author has taken the time to give me all the materials I need, it makes the decision much easier. I especially like when I get extra bonuses. I know the other affiliates can use them, but the customers don't usually know that

7. It's a recurring program. I love membership sites that give me a percentage each month one of my referrals pays. Since it's usually set up automatically, the customer gets billed every month and I get paid every month. Woohoo!
If they don't have a recurring program, it helps that it's set up so the customers have a reason to come back. Like offering free upgrades or email support.

Besides that, it should:

1. Integrate well with your site's content
2. Interactivity is a big plus. If you are selling a game, there should be a demo of the game that is either online or available.

3. Commission % is important, but not the most important. Selling 10 items at 30% commission is better than 1 item at 50% commission.

4. They should have a good statistics traffic and performance reports.

Default Best Products to Promote

This is great stuff because I'm looking for good affiliate products to promote right now. I agree with everything that has been said. I have a few to add as well -

1. If you promote a Clickbank products or one that accepts last cookie. Make sure the product owner does not try to overwrite your cookie by using his own in his promotions to the mailing list.

I've had this happen to me. As you know people don't usually purchase on the first exposure to a product. Well this guy got people on his list by offering a freebie, then he tried to promote his own affiliate link in his emails, overwriting mine. Luckily for me I usually sign up for all email lists of products I promote and caught the guy.

2. Make sure the website is converting well. Clickbank gives some really great stats that allow you to determine if a product is selling alot by affiliates or themselves. You can also see if there is a large return rate for the product.

3. Make sure the product creator has a good marketing system in play. Are there upsells involved and if so, check to see if you get a piece of that affiliate action.

What is your website focused on? I use different programs that most people because my site is focused on flash games and entertainment. I mainly do regnow or BMT micro program where I embed flash game demos on my site with a link in-game to sell the full version. Conversions are not bad.

Default Ebay Niche Website

Currently I have only one website focused on promoting a niche revolving around a product I sell on eBay. I'm now trying to market free reports with affiliate links inside as well as sell info products on eBay promoting affiliate links.

I'm interested in getting involved in marketing a variety of affiliate from different social networking sites.

It looks like you have a popular affiliate idea. I haven't heard of regnow or BMT micro program, but I would say anyway to monetize the massive amount of entertainment searches would make alot of money.
