offline and online. Even though millions of people participate in one form of social networking, whether it's on sites
like Myspace, Facebook, Digg, StumbleUpon or Technorati, many people don't have an accurate definition of what
it means.

When it comes to social networking online, social networking websites are used. Social networking could be
defined as an online community of people who form into specific groups. Many times they act like a small community
who share information, discuss important events, gossip, grow their network and interact with each other via instant
message or email.

With many of the participants of the various social networking websites the members share a common bond. This
bond is usually the related to a particular interest, passion, occupation, sport, hobby, religion, favorite activity, or
political affiliation. There are many social networking sites devoted entirely to a specific category.

Once you join the site you can begin to socialize with its members. This socialization may include creating your own
profile page, joining or forming groups, browsing the profiles of members or even interacting with them. The internet
is filled with millions, of people who are looking to meet other internet users with like interests to develop friendships
with.

The friends that you can make are just one of the many benefits to social networking online. Not only can you make
new friends, you but you can also discover new information and learn about new cultures. The internet gives people

There are a huge variety of social networking websites that focus on particular interests, there are also many
traditional social networks that feature a broad based member group. These traditional social networking websites
usually have a membership that is open to everyone and will allow you to join specific groups based on your
preferences. once you are inside a traditional online community, you can build your own online network of friends and
weed out others that do not meet your preferences and fit with your interests.

There are some dangers to social networking that you should be aware of as well. These dangers often involve online
